Launch Search Tool
There are two ways to search the MetaProx database: You can either Download your own copy of the latest Search Tool (Recommended) or you can alternatively launch a search directly from this page. This page tests your Java Web Start environment. If you already have the necessary setup then you will see a table of links that can be used to launch the Search Tool. Otherwise, you will see a link directing you to the required download. You might need to allow Java Script or ActiveX controls in order to properly view the detection results. Internet Explorer users might need to disable Enhanced Protected Mode to allow Java Web Start applications to launch from the browser.
Just before the Search Tool launches, you will see a certificate that confirms the authenticity of this application. You may chose to ignore future notifications if you prefer. Also, the file that launches the Search Tool (MetaProx.jnlp) will likely be saved on your local machine in a temporary or downloads folder and you can use this file to launch future searches without the need to return to the MetaProx website.
Attention Mac Users: Java updates beginning with Mac OS X 10.5 might prevent Java Web Start from properly launching the Search Tool. The following link from Apple Support should rectify this issue. In the event of persisting conflicts, we strongly recommend that you Download the latest Search Tool and run it using the command line. Please note, this is a Java on Mac issue and not a MetaProx development issue.
